In-situ method for acoustic testing and quality assurance of noise barriers

The acoustic evaluation of noise barriers on traffic routes is currently only carried out by means of test certificates from measurements according to the reverberation room method prior to the installation of the noise barriers. The real conditions as well as the installation quality can thus neither be recorded nor checked. The in-situ methods, which are currently available, are not yet applied as standard in Austria. For this reason, the development of an acoustic certification procedure for in-situ quality testing of noise barriers is proposed and metrologically validated. Based on the results of the measurement campaign and on available data, a statistical analysis of the range of installation quality will be carried out - with the aim of developing a proposal for the preparation of a corresponding guideline and regulation for road construction (RVS).
