USE-IT: Users, Safety, security and Energy In Transport Infrastructure
In the near future the European transport system has to achieve new levels of resource-efficiency, environmental-friendliness, safe and seamless transport for the benefit of citizens, the economy and society. The objective of USE-IT is to better understand the common challenges across transport modes. It bringstogether representatives of all transport modes to share their experience and skills and to develop a set of common research objectives. The project will draw upon the experience gained from the Joint European TechnologyPlatforms with the focus on infrastructure operations, and will also focus on research objectives presented in the Forever Open Road program and the work of the FORx4 - Forever Open Road, Railway, Runway and River.
The main objective is to develop a roadmap describing the research challenges and implementation steps to achieve more intensecooperation and co-modal operations in the areas covered by this CSA, which are: Users, Safety, Security and Carbon/Energy.
This project is funded by the European Commissioninthe H2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No.653670, call topic MG.8.2-2014 „Next generation transport infrastructure: resource efficient, smarter and safer“.
