Plants are frequently challenged by unfavorable environmental conditions. Drought, temperature extremes or pathogen infections limit plant growth and development. We analyse the mechanisms that plants use to cope with environmental stress and explore their potential for new crop improvement strategies.

A multitude of stress-induced responses are required for acclimation to stress. Thus, we take an integrative approach to better understand how signal transduction cascades regulate the coordinated response of metabolism and chromatin function (gene expression) that is vital to stress resilience in fluctuating environments.
