Expertise and Technology
The research group offers consulting services in the areas next-generation information retrieval and access. Core areas of competence include: NoSQL database solutions, Semantic Web infrastructure, RDF & Linked Data publishing, and Web-based visualization of large-scale datasets.
The research group is also an active Open Source contributor in the digital library domain: for example, our image annotation library Annotorious provides a flexible solution for adding interactive drawing, commenting and (semantic) tagging features to existing Web sites, content portals or library systems. Annotorious is fully customizable, can be extended through a powerful plugin mechanism, and can optionally be provided as a hosted solution through our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.
Open Data (or Open Access) refers to unrestricted access to government and research data and results. The development of policies supporting Open Data is a worldwide trend. The research group is a strong advocate for Open Data and Open Research, and can provide consulting and implementation expertise in the context of open repositories and data management plans.
