Experience Extended Reality powered by AIT

23.01.2025
The AIT is a partner of the VÖSI SOFTWARE DAY, which takes place on 29 January at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

At the Software Day, the AIT Center for Technology Experience will be presenting the following innovative use cases from the field of Extended Reality (XR):

  • BuildSaVeR: All visitors can slip into the role of a construction worker: With BuildSaVeR, AIT has developed an innovative virtual reality training solution in cooperation with STRABAG for all employees on construction sites to increase their occupational safety. Three training modules are currently available for each of three construction machines (roller, excavator, dumper).

  • HoloTable: An innovative prototype for augmented reality (AR). As a proof of concept, HoloTable combines physical markers with holographic visualizations and creates a very intuitive user experience: using AR glasses, visitors can arrange three-dimensional holograms such as buildings, vehicles, wind turbines and future-oriented concepts such as autonomous drones for passenger transport as they wish and redesign the scenario.

The following AIT speakers will be on site

  • Markus Murtinger (Deputy Head of Center for Technology Experience) will give a brief introduction to the projects currently being researched at AIT on the topic of ‘Digital Twins, Simulation & Extended Reality (XR)’. Afterwards, he will discuss with Barbara Hotwagner (CIO Health Austria), Manfred Mörtl (Head of Simulation & Training Equipment at the Federal Ministry of Defence BMLV) and Florian Schlechtleitner (Managing Director for ICT, PremiQaMed Group), moderated by Rudolf Felser from NEW BUSINESS Verlag, in a panel discussion about the opportunities and potential of digital twins, simulation and XR and which concrete projects will lead to sustainable improvements today and in the future that also offer significant added value.

  • Otto Brechelmacher (Senior Researcher at the AIT Center for Digital Safety & Security) will discuss the topic of ‘Cyber Security & Software Development’ with Peter Lieber (Parallel Enterpreneur in the Software Industry, Sparx Systems), Malika Mataeva (Cyber Security Engineer, WKO Inhouse), Manfred Pascher (Managing Partner, MP2 IT Solutions) and Natalia Petrova-Korudzhiyski (Senior Security & Safety Advisor, msg Plaut). Moderation: Rudolf Felser, New Business Verlag

  • The Startup Challenge at this year's Software Day is all about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and will be moderated by Christine Wahlmüller-Schiller (AIT Center for Technology Experience). Five AI startups will present themselves to the audience and an expert jury in the afternoon. The jury will be chaired by Florian Slezak (Microsoft Austria). The five-year anniversary of the VÖSI women's network WOMENinICT, which is headed by Wahlmüller-Schiller, will also be celebrated on Software Day.
