In mid-October an exciting workshop on the ‘ERA industrial technologies roadmap on human-centric research and innovation for the manufacturing sector’ took place in Vienna. This roadmap provides a guide for stakeholders in the industrial innovation ecosystem to promote human-centred technology development and application. The event, which was organised by the Plattform Industrie 4.0 and the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, was dedicated to the question of how the production sector can be sustainably transformed by human-centric innovations and solutions. Human-centricity is one of the three pillars of Industry 5.0.
After a welcome and introduction to the objectives of the workshop, the AIT study authors presented the central fields of action and measures of the roadmap. The participants then had the opportunity to evaluate these fields of action in the Austrian context. The results were incorporated into the subsequent workshop discussion, in which, in addition to the identification of success factors and challenges, concrete solutions for the domestic production ecosystem were developed.
The event was also linked to the European research project ‘Bridges 5.0’, in which the Industry 4.0 platform and the AIT are partners. In addition, the workshop was part of a series of future-oriented dialogues launched by the AIT, the ‘Transformative Pathways & Strategies Talks’, which deal with the effects of new technologies and challenges on the economy, society and politics in Austria.
The workshop ended with an outlook on upcoming initiatives and activities. The event provided participants with valuable ideas for the further development of the domestic manufacturing sector and highlighted the importance of human-centered innovation approaches for the future of industry.
