Biomedical Systems - Stefan Orter takes 3rd place at the 2020 Artery Poster Award

09.12.2020
We congratulate Stefan Orter on the award of the international ARTERY Society

The Artery Poster Award is held annually at the Artery Society's international conference, this year digitally from October 23-24. Out of 68 submitted posters, Stefan Orter, Center for Health & Bioresources - Biomedical Systems (HBS), won third place with his topic: "The Progression of Left Ventricular Ejection Time in Simulated Microgravity". The evaluation criteria of the expert jury were the relevance of the topic, the quality of the presentation, and the answers to the open questions.

The winning poster by Stefan Orter, AIT PhD Student at HBS, was created as a result of his work on the Space4All project, a joint project of the Centers Health & Bioresources and Technology Experience under the coordination of Bernhard Hametner (HBS). Diseases of the cardiovascular system are still the most frequent cause of death today. Thanks to its expertise and AIT's patented pulse wave technology, the AIT research group has been able to make significant progress in the measurement of essential parameters, which represents a significant step forward in early detection and diagnosis.

The Artery Society is the largest international platform on the topic of arterial structure and function. The annual conference is the highlight with keynote lectures, lively debates, presentations of peer-reviewed abstracts and practical demonstrations. The conference offers numerous opportunities for scientific interaction and discussion with dedicated scientists in this field.

Several scientists from HBS have been active in the ARTERY society for many years. Currently Bernhard Hametner is a member of the ARTERY board and the chairman of the ARTERY Young Investigator Group. The preparation of this year's virtual ARTERY conference was mainly managed by this group. Bernhard Hametner and Christopher Mayer, also from HBS, are also on the scientific advisory board of the CARTESIAN study, which was initiated by the ARTERY to investigate the effects and long-term consequences of an infection with Covid-19 on the arterial system.
