Fit4Food2030 – one year in

17.01.2019
AIT conducts research into securing the future of food systems

FIT4FOOD2030 supports the urgently needed change in how we produce, process, transport, consume and waste our food. It aims at futureproofing the European food systems through Research & Innovation (R&I). During the first year, the project has focused on laying the foundations for the setup of the multi-stakeholder FOOD2030 Platform with its EU Think Tank, Policy and City Labs. In addition, the current trends, showcases and breakthroughs in the innovation landscape in food systems were analysed.

7 City Labs are up and running, bringing together policy makers, researchers, educators and citizens from all walks of life, working on their visions of FOOD2030 and considering concrete actions on how to get there. The City Labs are located in Amsterdam (TheNetherlands), Milan (Italy), Budapest (Hungary), Barcelona (Spain), Athens (Greece), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Tartu (Estonia);

7 Policy Labs have started their work across Europe, aligning Research and Innovation policies nationally and internationally. The Policy Labs are located in The Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Flanders (Belgium), Lithuania, Norway and Romania.;

As part of the project, an so-called EU Think Tank was set up in June 2018, providing a link to the European Commission and serving as a sounding board with global outreach.
