In order to prepare these materials for future industrial applications, the LKR Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum Ranshofen is bundling its know-how with 12 project partners from industry and science. LKR scientists Dr. Stephan Ucsnik and Dr. Carina Schlögl coordinate the AMALFI project, which is financed by FFG and Upper Austria. Together with an interdisciplinary research team, they will research and further develop advanced aluminium and magnesium alloys, taking into account different production and processing chains.
The AMALFI consortium will also focus on a basic research topic: the development of novel microstructure models for aluminium and magnesium alloys. "These models are important because they have the potential to decisively advance the development of future Al and Mg alloys, above all through virtual, numerical simulation," explains project coordinator Dr. Stephan Ucsnik from the LKR.
