SESWA - Smart Energy Systems Week Austria 2018

"Energy infrastructure as a consumer good?" - under this theme, the SESWA gathers international experts from 14-18th of May 2018 in Vienna. The Smart Energy Systems Week Austria is one of the most renowned forums in the energy and technology community. It has been run by BMVIT (Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology) for more than ten years in cooperation with the City of Vienna, the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund and Wiener Netze GmbH. Wolfgang Hribernik, AIT's Head of Competence Unit Electric Energy Systems is a member of the SESWA scientific advisory board.

The SESWA will start on 14th of May with top-class keynote speakers from Silicon Valley. Interactive formats - Design Thinking Workshop and Open Space Session - present Austrian and international startups. The key topics include how digital technologies enable local and regional, integrated energy systems, possible developments of local energy communities their technology and energy partners.

At the symposium starting on 16th May in the Aula der Wissenschaften. The AIT Austrian Institute will be represented by Brigitte Bach, Head of Center for Energy, on "Real Estate as Power Plants" with a presentation on Energie Plus Quartiere. On May 17th, AIT researcher Tara Esterl will will give a lecture on the flexibility at the interface between market and energy grids - as well as -  sectoral linkage. This topic plays a central role in the current climate and energy strategy of the Austrian government #mission2030.
