NO-ICE-ROTOR – Development and demonstration of materials and manufacturing process for ultra-high reliability electric Anti-ice/De-ice thermal layers for high strain rotor blades and airframe sections of a civil tilt-rotor

The EU Clean Sky 2 programme (Link: develops the Next Generation Civil Tilt-rotorcraft- an air vehicle which shall bridge the gap in speed and range between helicopters and turboprop airplanes.

The objective of NO-ICE-ROTOR is the development and demonstration of anultra-high reliability electric Anti-ice/De-ice thermal system for highstrain rotor blades and airframe sections of a civil tilt-rotor.

The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology performs CFD/Icing simulations and thermal analysis to determine the requirements for the electric heating system of the prop rotors.
