Road Surface and Road Area - Measurement, Modelling and Optimisation

Infrastructure operators are faced with the task of making roads as safe as possible without compromising on quietness, energy efficiency and durability. The Business Unit is able to leverage several years' experience in measuring, analysing and modelling to harmonise these frequently conflicting demands using innovative computer simulations.

Taking a holistic approach, ultra-precise data on road conditions, road layout and noise emissions are collected, analysed in considerable detail and integrated into simulation models. This allows, for example, the effects of different road surfaces on skid resistance levels, rolling resistance or noise emissions to be evaluated and optimised in advance. Simulations are a quick and cost-effective way of providing infrastructure operators with important information for maintenance planning and noise protection and help the construction industry to develop the roads of the future.
