Monitoring and Control
To be able to ensure the maximum safety of alternative vehicle concepts, the interior state of the electrical machine has to be continually monitored during operation.
The Department's experts develop innovative monitoring methods designed to generate precise status data and therefore ensure that the motor continues to operate within the specified parameters. This status-driven approach allows the durability and reliability of the entire powertrain to be significantly increased.
- Development of monitoring methods for specific state variables, e.g. monitoring of degree of magnetisation and temperature of the machine
- Development of mathematical models for status monitoring as an alternative to the use of sensors or for determining variables which cannot be measured
- Development of customised control concepts using the "Smart Electric Drives Library" and implementation in practical applications
