Electrical Energy Storage Systems

Electric and hybrid vehicles represent a considerable design challenge, thanks to the use of new battery technologies and high-voltage components.

For several years, the Mobility Department has been researching innovative cell technologies, high-voltage systems and battery management systems for automotive applications and is therefore able to offer comprehensive development support when it comes to designing new electric energy storage systems – from the choice of cell to battery management and prototyping.

  • Choice of cell based on requirements profile and simulation
  • Extensive battery database as basis for application-specific cell choice
  • Development of battery management systems at hardware and software level (State of Charge, State of Health determination, safety, energy flow, communication, etc.)
  • Support in the design phase: high-voltage system (wiring, circuit breaker, fuses, etc.), mechanical design (crash safety, cooling, etc.)
  • Prototyping, including testing and optimisation (including Hardware-in-the-Loop)
  • Support during transition to serial production and in the choice of suppliers of individual components
