Water Purification
The key focus of research is on the development of “green“ technologies for the purification of ground, process and waste waters without the use of chemicals. Organic, inorganic and biological pollutants are selectively removed using physico-chemical methods, including electrochemical and photocatalytic oxidation, membrane separation, ion exchange and adsorption on natural materials.
We offer the following services:
- Electrochemical oxidation for degradation of biologically active substances and
pollutants in waste water (EDs, hormones, drug residues); As (III) oxidation in
drinking water; decoloration and disinfection - Membrane and electromembrane separation for the removal of organic
pollutants, arsenic, antimony - Adsorption/ion exchange using biologically degradable natural materials for the
removal of ammonium or heavy metals from water - Integrated processes: combination of membranes and advanced oxidation
- Experimental feasibility studies and method comparisons
Reference projects:
- Degradation of pollutants in water using electrochemical continuous flow
reactors (Eduard Moritz GmbH) - Investigations on oxidative processing of yellow water (Linz AG)
- Removal of ammonium from drinking water using zeolites (Ludwig GmbH)
- METEAU - Metals and related substances in drinking water
