Soil Remediation and Isotope Applications

Innovative and efficient methods are increasingly key to the remediation of contaminated sites. Optimal deployment of these technologies requires a high level of expertise concerning the behaviour of the contaminants in the environment.

Together with our partners, we develop biological and chemical in-situ remediation technologies using isotope methods. Our team of qualified experts can rely on long years of expertise and state-of-the-art facilities and equipment (lysimeter, spectroscopic methods such as EPR, P&T-GC-IRMS, etc.).

We offer the following services:

  • Development of new innovative remediation methods
  • Remediation concepts for contaminated sites
  • Examining the applicability of in-situ remediation methods (e.g. biological
degradation rates of petroleum-derived hydrocarbons, adsorbability of inorganic
         contaminants)
  • Scientific support in the application of innovative remediation methods
  • Ecotoxicological analyses
  • Isotope applications on contaminated sites
    • Quantification of natural and chemical attenuation of contaminants and
             methane oxidation
    • Monitoring of biological and chemical remediation measures
    • Identification of aerobic conditions in contaminated sites
    • Process description and identification of new metabolites using isotopic
             labelling
    • Identification of microorganisms and their metabolites responsible for the
degradation of organic pollutants using 13C labelling
    • Tracing the origin of pollutants
