Society and Technology
While technology is a product of social shaping, technical artifacts also have a sustained, far-reaching impact on society. The research service Society and Technology intends to explore the trajectories of modern technologies. In cooperation with our clients, we devise ways of assessing technologies and effectively participating in shaping them.
The Society and Technology research service’s portfolio includes a broad range of approaches and methods, which can be divided into four categories according to the range and depth of empirical research that they enable:
Analyses and studies of the social implications of new technologies
Foresight for assessing scope for social action
Technology assessment for socially acceptable and environmentally compatible innovations
Evaluation of research, technology, and innovation policy programmes
