Analysis of PV systems and module components

The annual energy yield of a photovoltaic system strongly depends on the regional conditions, such as the solar spectrum and the prevailing weather and climate at the place of installation. Certain thin-film modules may generate more electricity in diffuse light than conventional crystalline modules and thus represent the better solution in predominantly cloudy regions.

The Energy Department uses high accuracy results from extensive indoor and outdoor measurements to develop realistic computer-based simulation models. The comprehensive simulations, measurements and analyses carried out both on site and in the laboratory provide valuable decision support in selecting the appropriate technology for each location.

  • System performance measurements on site
  • Yield analysis and scientific monitoring
  • Identification of optimisation potentials
  • Sample-based quality analysis
  • Degradation analysis
  • Scientific support (feasibility studies, technology comparisons)
