OPTUNAMIK - Optimierung der Tunnel-Aerodynamik für Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecken

Trains passing through railway tunnels cause pressure and suction waves which affect the vehicle, tunnel equipmentand passenger comfort; moreover, in high speed lines high pressure loadsarise. For safety reasons, in Europe the single-track “double tube” is the standard design for long high-speed tunnels. The tubes are connected by cross passages as emergency exits.

OPTUNAMIK aims to analyze the optimization potential of general adaptations and local geometric variations in tunnel cross-sections (concrete haunches, connecting tunnels) to reduce aerodynamic stresses in a single-track railway tunnel.
