Recommendations to change practice and support evidence-based medicine

Objectives

  • Compilation of recommendations for stakeholders with an interest in publication bias or others who are in one way or another affected by the consequences of the publication bias, taking into account:
    • system dependencies identified and mapped in WP1 (and refined)
    • results of WP2 and WP4
    • results for a consolidated framework after the first consultation (WP3)
    • results of the gap analysis and innovative measures for feasible solutions against publication bias (WP5)
    • ethical considerations
    • existing strategies of NGO and other national, regionally and internationally active organizations
    • technical aspect and feasibility as well as power considerations

Task 6.1 - Integration of the findings on measures, and from interviews and gap analysis

  • Findings generated in WP3 “Identification of stakeholders and measures, barriers and facilitating factors to overcome the publication bias”, as well as WP1, WP2 and WP4, will be integrated to define
    • how current measures introduced at different levels of policy making detect and reduce the publication bias, especially in the context of clinical RTCs and other trials
    • how current measures prevent the publication bias, especially in the context of clinical RTCs and other trials
  • Results of the first consultation (interviews) will be taken into account when this task is performed

Editorial work on the final report (evidence-based medicine; science Maps and bibliometrics; and software).

Task 6.2 - Integration of the scenario-based workshops

  • Findings generated in WP5 “Participative approach to innovate measures for feasible solutions against the publication bias”, as well as from Task 6.1, will be integrated to define
    • how new and feasible measures introduced at different levels of policy making could better detect and reduce the publication bias, especially in the context of clinical RTCs and other trials
    • how new and feasible measures could better prevent the publication bias, especially in the context of clinical RTCs and other trials
    • items of implementation of these measures in national and regional settings
    • suitable indictors of a valid and successful implementation
  • Results of the second consultation will be taken into account when this task is performed

Editorial work on the final report (evidence-based medicine; and policy).
