Sustainable Transportation Infrastructures

Solutions for sustainable transportation infrastructures include research and development to support infrastructure operators in their endeavours to minimise risks of traffic participants, reduce pollution and noise and support infrastructure management.

Therefore the Research Field aims at:

• providing innovative safety assessment tools to prevent accidents due to forgiving roads and self explaining road design
• developing methods for analysing infrastructure parameters and their impact on transport emissions
• providing methods for sustainable and cost-efficient planning, design and management of transport infrastructures (roads, rail, highly frequented transportation nodes e.g. airports and train stations)
