Environmental Resources & Technologies

The sustainable use and protection of natural resources is an essential prerequisite for socially and environmentally compatible development. Our activities are aimed at investigating complex environmental systems and developing technologies for the efficient use, preservation and remediation of the natural resources water and soil. Our research focuses on investigating the interactions within the soil-water-plant-air system and on developing technologies, processes and methods for water protection, water treatment, soil remediation and food safety under the aspects of future global changes.

NUTZRAUM – innovative in-situ methods for the remediation of contaminated sites

This project investigates alternative and innovative in-situ remediation methods under field conditions with the aim of gearing them to practical application. The technical requirements and potential of the remediation techniques will be investigated at different contaminated sites in Austria. The investigations are designed to create best practice examples for the deployment of alternative remediation methods and provide indications for further application. The monitoring methods used in the project will be further improved to test their effectiveness in practice. The research results will be made available to companies involved in the remediation of contaminated sites.
